The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), took the battle against fuel hoarding and selling
at outrageous prices to Oyo State yesterday, when it sealed no fewer than 50 petrol stations in Ibadan and it’s environs, including that of a
former senator from Oke Ogun area of the state.
Alleluyah Oil, Idi-Arere, Ibadan, owned by a former senator, was sealed for selling the commodity at
N140 per litre while Oando at Oritamefa was closed for hoarding the product.The approved price per litre of the premium motor spirit, known as petrol is N87, but many petroleum marketers have been taking advantage of the ongoing scarcity to sell at outrageous amounts, between N130 to N150.
Petrol Stations in Ogbomoso area of the state were all closed for selling to motorists and motorcyclists at prices higher than the one approved by the government. According to the Operations Controller, Olakunle
Ogunlana, who was represented by Deputy Manager (Operations), Sadiq Ibrahim, the effort was to checkmate the pain, fraudulent marketers
subject the public to.
